How to Remove Grout From Tile

How to Remove Grout From Tile

Remember that you must know how to remove grout from tile well, but without damaging the tile. If you use something too abrasive, your tiles may scratch. You don't want to end up with discoloured or marked tiles if you get a grout stain on your tile.

The biggest concern when removing grout from a tile is damaging it by scratching it. Fortunately, you can use several tools and cleaning agents to ensure your tile remains stains- and scratch-free.

1. TRY WARM WATER

Is that too easy? However, it is often so simple if your grout is still fresh. The only way to remove soft grout is to use warm water and a non-scratch scouring pad on your tile. This will remove the white stain but not the stained grout lines. Moving on to the next step is necessary if you require heavier-duty removal.

2. USE OIL SOAP ON GROUT LINES

Use a scouring pad or even a cloth to get rid not only of the grout that has stained the surface of the tiles but also of old grout between them. So be careful not to splash the Oil Soap on the tile surface as it might cause damage. You may need to repeat this procedure before the grout is entirely removed.

3. USE A GROUT SAW FOR STUBBORN AREAS

If the grout is damaged by oil, soap, or water, use a grout saw to remove it without damaging the tile. Grout saws are thin, serrated tools that let you cut grout between tiles.

HOW TO GET DRIED GROUT OFF TILE

This method will work with fresh grout, which means it is still soft. It is obviously much more difficult to remove dried grout using warm water and a scouring pad than to remove it yourself. You will need to remove dried grout by following the following:

Vinegar

Paper towels

An old toothbrush

If you lay paper towels over the tile, you can then pour 50-50 mix of water and vinegar over the grout to remove dirt and soap scum. Shake it for a few minutes before wiping it with a clean cloth soaked in plain water. If you wipe it off with a toothbrush or makeup brush, it should have a bead on it.

HOW TO REMOVE COLORED GROUT

If your grout is yellow, you can clean it with baking soda and water; make sure to rinse well. Purchase a grout-cleaning product at your local hardware store and the PentaUSA's Products. Read the package instructions carefully.

Lastly, you can clean your grout with a steam cleaner. Keep your steamer away from the tiles because you may damage them.

WHAT ARE THE BEST TOOLS FOR GROUT REMOVAL?

We recommend using a grout saw or a carpet cleaner to remove stubborn grout from your tile:

There is a serrated edge on one side of the grout saw, and it is thin enough to actually get between tiles. The grout starts flying with a bit of elbow grease. I recommend using this tool for small things such as grouted tiles.

Groove grabbers can be used for many applications. With attached attachments, they can hold 1/16 of an-inch carbide grit blades and remove 1/16-inch to half of the an-in-inch grout. Instead of using a screwdriver that can damage your drywall, this is a game changer.

DO YOU HAVE TO REMOVE OR CLEAN THE OLD GRADE ON THE FLOORS?

Do you need to remove your old grout, or do you think it could be spruced up by cleaning? Try cleaning it first before giving up on it. Here, vinegar or bleach can make a difference. DIYers are left convinced that grouts are made from sand, Portland cement, and latex, so any household cleaner recommended for natural stone will work.

Your cleaner will need to first test a small inconspicuous area of tile to make sure it won't stain. Getting familiar with cleaning grout is all about balancing the cleaning act with avoiding stains.

Instead of the lengthy and laborious methods for grout removal, opt for the PentaUSA Grout Removal Tool. Discover an easy and effective solution now!
